Rohit Sharma’s enterprising 95-run spurt went in vain as West Indies ended India’s 11 game winning streak at home after recording sensational 16-run in the third one-day internationsal at Sardar Patel Stadium, Motera, Ahmedabad on Monday to survive in five-match series.
West Indies, who urgently needed a victory to keep themselves in the reckoning, recorded their first conquest in the tour to reduce the margin to 1-2 in the one-day series after having lost the Test rubber 0-2.
Ravi Rampaul, the chief-in-destroyer of Indian devastation, produced four-wicket haul to bundle out hosts for 244 in 46.5 overs in reply to West Indies’ total of 260-5.
It was the World Champions first ODI defeat at home since going down to South Africa in the group stage of the World Cup in March.
