1st Test: Australia drubbed New Zealand by 9 wickets

James Pattinson produced five-wicket haul on debut as Australia drubbed New Zealand by nine wicket in the first Test at Brisbane on Monday to claim 1-0 lead in two-match series.

The 21-year-old right-arm quick (5-27), claimed three wickets in the four balls early in the morning to help Australia bundle out kiwis for 150.

Australia got the microscopic 19-run target after losing Phillip Hughes’ (9) wicket. Debutant (12 not out) lashed two successive boundaries to wrap up the operation with more then four sessions to spare.

Pattinson, who had claimed Brendon McCullum’s wicket late on Saturday, dismissed Martin Guptill (12), Kane Williamson (naught) and skipper Ross Taylor (naught) in the space of four balls in the day’s opening over.
