Taufeeq Umar notched up his seventh Test ton as Pakistan claimed upper-hand over Bangladesh on the third day of second and final Test in Dhaka on Monday.
The 30-year-old veteran left-hander (130) put on 127-run second-wicket stand alongside Azhar Ali (57) as Pakistan reached 292 for 3 before the bad light forced to call off the day early.
Younus Khan was undefeated on 48 alongside skipper Misbah-ul Haq (26 not out) with Pakistan needing another 46 runs to patch up Bangladesh’s first innings total of 338.
Bangladesh went wicketless in the opening session and squandered the most of the opportunities that came their way, putting down Taufeeq thrice and Younis once.
Resuming the play on 87-1, Taufeeq and Azhar took the score onto 150 before the latter was caught behind off the bowling of Shakib al Hasan for 57. Azhar’s cautious 147-ball knock was laced with seven boundaries.
