BBLT20: Warner’s ton sinks Melbourne Stars

Skipper David Warner’s swashbuckling unbeaten ton helped Sydney Thunder to drub Melbourne Stars by six wickets in their opening game of Australia’s Big Bash League Twenty20 at Melbourne Cricket Ground on Saturday.

The 25-year-old New South Wales southpaw blasted 102 off just 51 deliveries as visitors chased-down the 153-run victory target with six balls to spare.

Prior to this, David Hussey (53) scored a blazing half-ton and developed a 41-run third-wicket stand alongside George Bailey (27) to power hosts 153 after they were asked to bat.

After the departure of fellow-opener Chris Gayle in first over, whose stumps were uprooted by seamer James Faulkner, Warner made the mockery of hosts bowling outfit with unstoppable hitting. His knock was laced with six well-timed boundaries and six gigantic maximum hits.
