Stoke vs Tottenham (7-6)

Stoke reached the fourth round of the Carling Cup, posting a penalty shoot-out victory over Tottenham at the Britannia Stadium.

Thomas Sorensen made a decisive save from Spurs debutant Massimo Luongo to give his side 7-6 panalty shoot-out victory over Tottenham.

Stoke suffered an early obstruction when Kenwyne Jones pulled up with an injury in the 10th minute and left the game.

Robert Huth, who was leading the Potters for the night in the absence of Ryan Shawcross, jiggled the first real chance of the competition off target from Matthew Etherington’s corner. Etherington delivered a cross to Crouch, but the England striker could not get proper control on his header.
