Mirpur Test: West Indies thrashed Bangladesh by 229 runs

Devendra Bishoo’s five-wicket burst on the final day proved the last nail in Bangladesh coffin as West Indies scripted comprehensive 229-run victory in the second and final Test in Mirpur to clinch the series 1-0.

The 26-year-old left-arm spinner with his career best bowling figures 5-90, claimed four of last five wickets which the Bangladesh lost for 24 runs to help bundle out hosts for 278 in their second innings when they were following an improbable target of 508.

The hosts resumed the innings at 164-3 with the slight hopes to save the game, but suffered a big blow when the resisting opener Tamim Iqbal fall catch skipper Darren Sammy off Bishoo after adding just one run to his overnight score 82. The left-hander’s 158 ball knock was studded with eight fours and a six.
