Australia were bundled out for just 47, their fourth lowest Test total and their lowest for 109 years by South Africa as 23 wickets fell on second Test of first Test in Cape Town on Thursday.
Riding on the levelheaded knocks of skipper Graeme Smith (36 not out) and Hashim Amla (29 not out) in scamper towards 236-run victory target, South Africa were 81 for one at close, needing 155 runs to win.
Aussies had lost their nine wickets for just 21 runs but tail-enders Peter Siddle (12 not out) and Nathan Lyon (14), who were the only batsmen to reach double figures, put on 26 for last wicket to save their from the humiliation of being bowling out for the lowest score of the cricket history.
