Lendl Simmons’ maiden ton guided West Indies to comprehensive 40-run victory over Bangladesh in the first ODI of three-match series at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur on Thursday.
The Trinidad & Tobago batsman scored record 122 off 124 balls, developing 150-run stand with Marlon Samuels to power West Indies 298-4 after the hosts won the toss and invited tourists to bat first.
Surviving from the vindictive half-centuries of Saqibul Hasan and Naeem Islam the hosts were scampering towards massive chase but paid the price of slothful scoring rate in middle overs as there innings was reduced to 258-7.
