Sri Lanka announced squad for series against Pakistan on Wednesday. Batsman Thilan Samaraweera and spinner Ajantha Mendis are ruled out of the team for next month’s Test series against Pakistan.
The 35-year-old batsman has been one of most reliable batsmen of Sri Lankan side in current years. He scored 4,683 runs, with the help of 12 centuries, in 68 Tests at an average of 52.61. Mendis secured 62 wickets in 16 Tests.
The duo players were part of the distended squad for the recent Test series against Australia. However, Mendis was overlooked for all three Tests while Samaraweera was ruled out for the last game.
