Hashim Amla and AB de Villiers slammed half-tons as South Africa consolidated their position against Australia on the third day of second and final Test at Wanderers Stadium on Saturday.

Amla (86 not out) and de Villiers (70 not out) put on unconquered 139 runs for fourth wicket as hosts closed the day at 229 for 3, establishing an overall lead of 199 runs.

The bad light spoiled the play of last session for the third successive day as umpires called off the day with 21 overs to be bowled.
